Meet the Eboard

President | Human Biology Major | Class of 2018

Hello Everyone! My name is Salma Memon and I am the President of GMT at UC Merced. I am originally from Orange County, CA. My favorite activities include travelling, swimming, and running. Currently, I serve as a Senator for the Associated Students of UC Merced and am an active member of Phi Delta Epsilon, an International Pre-Medical Fraternity. Personally, I believe healthcare should be a basic universal right. To know that in a world full of advancements there still exists situations where healthcare is inaccessible, is not acceptable. Upon graduation from medical school, I plan to combine my passions of travelling and medicine by joining an organization such as Global Medical Training to bring such access to those in need. Global Medical Training offers a unique experience that truly creates a community of professionals striving for the betterment of those around them. I look forward to seeing what GMT has to offer for you. Welcome to the GMT family!

Vice President | Bioengineering Major | Class of 2018

Hi! My name is Abigail Renteria, or Abby. I am a 2nd year Bioengineering major declared pre-medical. I am heavily involved in several engineer and health related organizations on campus like the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Public Health Society to name a few. I currently work for the Recreation and Athletics Department on campus as a private learning assistant for student athletes. Outside of school academics and activities, I am interested in cooking and gardening. I am the Internal Vice President of Global Medical Training. I work closely with the entire Executive Board by providing agendas for officer meetings, creating to do lists, and keeping accountability. I also create speciality events for the club. GMT, to me, is not just an opportunity for health interested students to travel abroad. It is a place for students to grow into the physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics of the future. We are creating the next generation of the medical field and community with an emphasis on philanthropy and generosity. I cannot wait to see what Global Medical Training does for you!

Natalie Banh

Fundraising/ Events Director | Biology Major | Class of 2018

Hi! My name is Natalie Banh and I am a second year majoring in Human Biology. I had the wonderful opportunity to become fundraising chair for GMT this year. This club is one of the ways that I can possibly give back to the community and world. It offers many great opportunities to get hands on medical training. It also offers workshops to aid students in various ways, such as learning basic spanish to the different types of medical jargon that one would be hearing if they went on the GMT trip to Central America. I am also involved in Tri Delta and Phi Delta Epsilon.
